Floral Maxi Skirt & My Chemical Peel Experience

White tank | Skirt c/o | Heels | Similar Bag | Earrings | Gold Bangle

How gorgeous is this skirt?! It just speaks for itself with this gorgeous purple print 🙂 I love all of Chicwish’s  dress and skirt options for any special events or date nights. Their price points are wonderful (this skirt is under $45) and their pieces are so unique.

As some of you may already know, I had a chemical peel done at my dermatologist a couple weeks ago. I have heard so many great things about chemical peels and how they can improve the your skin. You can read more about the exact one I did and the process here. I am by no means a doctor or an expert but I did want to share my personal experience with the peel because I had so many requests and questions about it 🙂

The procedure- I was at the office for a total of about 45 minutes. It was a pretty simple procedure that involved applying many layers to my skin. I received Skin Medica’s Vitalize peel which is a salicylic acid based peel. She (my doctor) applied two layers of the  The last two included a retinol and a very strong sunscreen. I didn’t feel any pain during the actual appointment, it was just an uncomfortable, slight burning sensation. She (the doctor) gave me a fan to help the burning.

Later that day- Leaving the doctor, my face looked pretty normal. It was SUPER important to stay out of the sun after so I put on a hat for the drive home and stayed inside. Luckily, I scheduled the appointment on a day that I didn’t have a lot going on. They told me not to wash my face for six hours so I let it be until about 10 pm that night. It felt like I had a sunburn all day and while it didn’t hurt, my face just felt uncomfortable and dry.

2-4 days post procedure- On day 2 my face was red and a bit swollen but had not started peeling yet. I looked like I had spent a day in the sun but I actually went out with a friend the second night and you couldn’t even tell. I started peeling about 48 hours after the peel. It started right around my mouth and nose and was the worst on days 3 and 4. My favorite part of this whole process was the peeling itself because I felt like that was when it was working.. haha does that sound crazy?

I will say that during these days, my face would randomly start BURNING like crazy. Not sure what was causing it other than sweating seemed to make it worse. I went to a workout class on day 4 and felt like my face was burning off ugh!

5-7 days post procedure- By day 5, I was mostly done peeling. I had some left around my hairline and neck but for the most part, you couldn’t tell. My face was extremely dry, part of me think it’s from the skincare they gave me to use- after a day back on my regular skincare routine, it was back to normal 🙂

My overall thoughts- I definitely think the peel improved my skin’s texture and helped the surface level clogged pores and left over sun/acne marks. I am so glad I did it because it’s something I have been wanting to try for a long time. It’s recommended that you get 3-4 peels for best results but I am still undecided about if I would do another one. You definitely have to have about a week off of work and other obligations because you won’t want to be seen in public hahaha! I have actually heard wonderful things about another type of facial called a Hydrafacial and that it’s very comparable to a chemical peel without the down time. I might have to look into that next.

Well, there you have it! Let me know if you’ve ever had a chemical peel or anything similar! Also, I’m always looking for recommendations on a good facial 😉

Thanks for reading!

xoxo

What a gorgeous skirt and love the pattern and color. Also great info on the chemical peel. I was offered a free one but too scared so I passed it up. Maybe next time and you make it seem not so bad as I thought.

You look so gorgeous! I love this skirt! Also, I’ve never had a chemical peel, but now I am intrigued! I would be interested to see how the other kind works just as well.

I’m wearing the same skirt right now (just in the pink floral print hehe). I love it on you! Your peel experience sounds crazy! I’ve always been so nervous to do a peel because I would feel so awkward going out with that kind of peeling happening on my face haha!

Okay first off, obsessed with your entire outfit! I’ll have to look into trying a chemical peel, I’ve heard such great things! Or the hydrafacial, because the downtime of a chemical peel kind of intimidates me! haha
